International Student Admission Plans

Coe College offers multiple undergraduate programs for international students. Through each, students have a successful and enriching experience. Levels of English language proficiency will determine the program most appropriate with which to begin a Coe education.

UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAM

BACHELOR OF ARTS

Coe's traditional four-year degree program allows full-time students to have access to over 60 areas of study. Students enrolled in this program will graduate from Coe College with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree.
Program Requirements:

  • Students must complete the application process through the Office of Admission.
  • English language proficiency scores (meet one of the following):
    • TOEFL score of 68 iBT (520 paper-based score)
    • IELTS score of 6.0 (with no sub score <5.5)
    • STEP Eiken score of grade 1 or pre-1
    • PTE Academic score of 51 or above

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ACADEMIC BRIDGE (ELAB) PROGRAM

The ELAB Program is an academic bridge program designed for students with a first language other than English. It provides one term of English language courses in addition to regular undergraduate courses. Students will develop academic language skills in reading, writing, vocabulary and conversation while earning credit towards an undergraduate degree. Applicants must meet all undergraduate admission requirements except for English language proficiency. Upon successful completion of the ELAB program term, students will continue with all regular undergraduate Bachelor of Arts courses.

Program Requirements:

  • Students must complete the application process through the Office of Admission.
  • English language proficiency scores (meet one of the following):
    • TOEFL score between 61 iBT and 68 iBT (or its equivalent)
    • PTE Academic score of 45 or above

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) PROGRAM

Coe's ESL program's mission is to prepare students with a first language other than English for academic study in the United States. Students will develop English proficiency, academic skills and confidence to be successful in Coe's rigorous academic environment. Upon completion of their ESL program, students can apply for admission to the undergraduate degree program.

Program Requirements:

  • Students must complete the application process through the English as a Second Language Department.
  • Students have a TOEFL score below 61 iBT (or its equivalent) or no score at all.
